(certainly not the frappes, and tea doesnt count) I love frappes (with mint and raspberry syrup) but i kinda missed drinking coffee. But I really really want to try to get to bed early. I guess coffee can wait till tomorrow morning. For tonight, I'm raiding my jar of cherries. :)

geez, I know every Filipino would be saying this in their blogs today, but its soooo hot! the weather is just, its just sooo exhausting! I want to take a 3 hour long bath with cold water! (to think I hate taking a bath with cold water). haaay. Airconditioning doesnt seem to be enough!

I will distract myself with Cherries and Ice cream and a good tv series to watch. What I find interesting, is that you probably will read this post because you know how it feels like, and you would want to know how mine came to happen. This isnt going to be something filled with drama or whatever it is that rates. Initially, I wanted to rant about everything that has happened, but then I realized I couldnt just rant about everything- some good things did happen to me. Its just that I cant help but wish that the bad stuff didnt have to happen. Or maybe it was a package. Either way, im still thankful for the good things, and im still trying to understand the bad things. But trying to find something good in all this, that's a challenge. I rarely say what I really feel, and I tend to shut up when I should be speaking out. Funny, I always thought myself to be a strong person. I hadnt realized that just because I felt strong, it doesnt mean that I am.

Let me tell you a little something about me.

I don't remember the last time that I had said or done something for vindication. I always said that what people thought of me didnt matter. I knew the truth, and thats what mattered. But then I look back at everything, and I realized that I shouldve said what I had wanted to do, when I had the chance. I know of people who didn't give themselves the chance to explain things; suffice to say, things went sour. I thought things through and I realized that things are what they are now because of everything that has been left unsaid before. Then I think about what would have happened if everyone had been completely honest about things. Would things have been better? Maybe not. Debating about things that have happened in the past is very very dangerous- it may mean that we contemplate on our lives (which is good) but it may also mean that we are unsure of whats happening; that we now blame our past actions for what we have now, and what is to be. Then it all becomes blurry- at what point does one decision affect one's future? And when everything's blurry, I only remember what I felt at that time- the people, and the experiences. It all becomes clear to me then- what I felt was what mattered. what others felt mattered too, but my feelings brought more pain to me. It probably meant, that I had to put myself first before anything else. That I had to stop being such an understanding human being. That I had to be different. Because after all these years, my humanity alienated me from people. It made me feel different.

Now I realize that what I am, and everything that's happened, is because I allowed it to be.

It's a good thing I really love where I am at right now, otherwise, I would be a very bitter person.

But I will be better. I will be stronger.

You know what I still cant understand?

I cant understand why I let the simplest of things get as far as it did. I guess thats what happens when you get caught in a whirlwind. The bad side: the good trees get uprooted. The bad trees? well, theyre still there, bad as ever.

I cant do project 365 but i'll try this.

where i want to go to and hide (without bringing my passport)

I've always said that i want to go here, to do this, try this and what not. But i never really had the time. I also never really had the initiative to drag friends to wherever it i wanted to go. I mean, with school, work and whatever problems we had, I just never had the chance. So I'm listing the top places in the Philippines (in any order) I would love(hopefully) to visit within the next couple of years.

1. Baguio- go back home!!
Status: been there a couple of months ago. Got stuck downtown in a rainy afternoon when the girls went to the local market to get pasalubong. took us hours to try to get a cab going home, we gave up and had the boys pick us up. had to wait in mcdo to sit out the rain. That reminded me a lot of Taft, minus the flood and pedicabs, and Jenny of course. But still, all memories of my childhood come up, especially in the morning while drinking coffee or hot chocolate and just staring at the sunrise and breathing in the pine air. I'm not good at describing places, but lets just say when I'm really old, i would love to spend my last days there.

2. Boracay- its about damn time!
Status: I cant go there yet, at least until Pat comes back home. I kinda made this deal that I wont be going to Bora until he gets back here in Manila. So yeah, Bora, see you next year. sigh!

3. Tagaytay- Its the easiest to go to. Some nights when we get bored, we just hop in and go there just to have coffee (and mochamisu in Mochablends). I recall a kinda funny time when we went up in just our pambahay that we ended up borrowing Robbie's shirts and polo to use it as jackets (because we kinda forgot to bring our own), kahiya! Its kinda boring though because Tagaytay isnt a place to go if you love sunsets. But the bulalo, is so worth the drive. Oh, and the T house is soooo beautiful! (yeah, thats where they shot the KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez flick, the one they shot "entirely" in Greece). Rent the place out, and see that you can go to Greece just 3 hours from Manila. The T house offers free wifi (yay!), a lovely house with a garden and pools, and of course, a sauna. Its the perfect place to unwind (and live).
Status: been there, and will be back for sure.

4. Mt. Pinatubo- Okay, everybody remembers the terrible explosion in 1993, it made me think it was snowing in a weird way in Manila, not realizing that it was ash fall from one of the worlds biggest volcanic eruptions in this century. But quite a lot of people know what happened to pinatubo, give or take a few years. Try to google it, oh it looks so beautiful! you'll have to hike and/or rent a 4x4 to get up, but i would do anything to go to the cratera and just sit and stare at it, or ride a boat in the lake in the crater. The geek in me would also want to see the creatures that reside in the lake. I hated biology, but im just curious. Anyhow, i have to get my ass there before the year ends.
Status: Researching and will drag people up there, hopefully next term break.

5. Samal Island - located 700 kilometers south of Davao, this Island offers a lot for visitors. Its got caves, mangroves, white sand beaches, and is said to be a good site for snorkeling/diving. I hope it wouldnt be too commercialized if and when i get to visit the place.
Status: Maybe next year.

6. Putipot Island- I'd love to tell you where it is, but i'm gonna have to kill you. The island is so small you can circle around it and your friends wont even notice you left. You'll have to ride boat to get there, but it is soo worth it. White sand baby! oh, and the sunset...
Status: been there already!! but i would looove to go back anytime!

7. Intramuros - Who would've thought that a tiny settlement by the pasig river would be home to such history and beauty? okay, im gonna sound really geeky if i give you a historical background of the place, so I'll assume you listened in history class, or you have opened another tab and typed intramuros in google. Well, anyway, I'm a sucker for historical sites (yes, i would love to have house that looks like the ones in Vigan, and live on a street like vigan, minus the kalesa), and intramuros has always been a favorite. Give me one day, one SLR, a cup or two of coffee in intramuros, and i would be sooo happy.
Status: Was there a few days ago, but just outside. Will ask some friends next week to go there. :)

hmm...havent thought of anything else yet, so far. still gonna try to find those hidden wonders that our 7,103 islands have in store. Not because I was asleep or was doing errands, but because I live in a place where it is impossible to see it even if i went to the highest peak (and die because i am sooo not in condition for mountaineering). But wait! I discovered (through a friend whose not even 15 but knows how the universe works and wont tell me) that my wish to see an eclipse will come true....on April 20 2042. Grrr! I saw a graph of the path, and we will see it really really well. A Page to be exact. In about 20 or so levels, I'll be a knight. A kick-ass, sadako-looking Knight. Yesss, i am old enough to not play this game but I'm hooked!

Okay, the game's called Maple Story and you can access it here. You can choose from 4 classes/jobs, and you basically play in this cute little 2d world. The system requirements are not that bad. I can even make this play on my eee pc. (i load it from an external hard drive though)

Gotta warn you though, it's addicting. The game basically never ends (well, so far no one's "finished" the game yet), and you can create so many characters to level and all that.

It's all good though, I actually made friends from as far as Australia and the US and even Israel.

There will be times though that kid's will spam you and say fack you! (its no typo, thats how they say that, really) but theyr'e actually funny so it doesnt matter.

It's nothing like warcraft or whatever it is that people play. This game is "cute", but its fun.

So far, here are my goals for the game:

1. level up at least once a week. (yeah right!)
2. change hairstyle
3. sell stuff thats been in my inventory for the longest time
4. find someone in manila who sells nexon cards. If sleeping were a national sport, I'd be on the Philippine team. Sleep isnt just something my body needs. I need it. I want it..

I have always been a heavy sleeper. It takes about an hour to wake me up. It never bothered me till last night. After a day of walking around Megamall to look for furniture for Rob's unit, walking around eastwood while waiting for him to finish his interview, and going back to Malate (pizza night!) , I fell asleep really early. Turns out, around midnight, my friends were waking me up, to go to cafe ad, but i couldnt remember it. Aargh. I missed a lot! Everyone was there, Mado got drunk (again), and there were a lot of things I missed last night. Sayang.

I dont want to be a heavy sleeper anymore. He played basketball, studied hard, got good grades, and had a very bright future. he was just like anyone of us, except that he has passed away last tuesday. We were never close, but we maintained communications after highschool. And even if we werent close, he was still part of our batch. OLGM 2001. We are all brothers and sisters there, we were all tight. We all stood side by side with with each other throughout all the laughs and the pairshares. And to have one less in the family? It sucks. Its not right. He was 24, one of the nicest people i know and this happens to him. Most of us had not had talked for the longest time, even so, the news of his death got all of us stunned. Most are still in shock. He was too young, too nice. But all the ranting i could do here won't bring a friend back.

Mike, wherever you are pare, we miss you. Kahit iyakin ka, mahal ka namin. We will miss the dimples. We hope youre playing a good game of ball up there, pakita mo sa kanila dyan signature layup mo. Some friends of mine introduced me to his work one night we were on tour for a play we were doing. They had me read "Snow, Glass, Apples" from Smoke and Mirrors, and I got hooked. To this day, I still blame them for my addiction to Neil Gaiman literature. (curse you, yanny and rhem, we shouldve just focused on the beer!). Of course, years from now, friends of mine have helped me with my Gaiman addiction. Friend and superdirector Avid gave me a signed copy of Mr. Punch for my birthday (i had work the day Gaiman was here and i wasnt able to see him), and Empress showed me death and morpheus, and now im in love.

Death and Dreams aside, Stardust is my favorite Gaiman novel. I've always thought of it as magical, innocent, funny; a true journey for one who is in search for his heart's desire. Naturally, when the film came out, I made sure I would watch it as soon as i can. It is hard to watch your favorite book on film. Even though Gaiman produced it and had control over the screenplay (i think), I couldnt help but compare. Certain things were omitted, probably on purpose. Certain circumstances and characters were changed so it is very entertaining, and unpredictable, even for one who has read the book. Overall, i loved the film. the cast could not have been better. The special effects could have been better. The treatment of the film was sort of harry potter-ish, but it worked its magic. Robert de Nero's character is something to watch out for. All in all, i would recommend people to watch it. But, dont expect a lord-of-the-rings-grandeur. Remember, Its harry-potterish.

something to think about: Why do you think the term "heart's desire", was not mentioned in the film?

Birthday post

I still have a birthday hangover. But please, my preferred literature does not include phrases you read in restroom cubicles, or bus seats, or in tables in school. Then again, when you're doing number 1 in a public place, and you're facing the door of the cubicle, you read all the weird things crazed girls do (i wouldn't know what's written in boy's bathrooms, silly!). I'm used to reading "jenna loves brad", or "mylene loves marie" (I went to an all-girls college) types of vandals. I've also seen, call me (number is written), or "(name) is such a s*#%!". Haven't seen "Inday Loves Dodong", but I'm expecting to see it soon, with all the popularity Inday has been gaining in the text world. But after more than 10 years of curiously reading doors of cubicles, tables and other places, I think I can say I have seen the weirdest (so far). I read it in an exclusive college in Manila where I am currently enrolled in. It said:

"What is Sex for you?"

then someone else wrote:

"It's the cheese in my spaghetti."

SERIOUSLY.

Tsk tsk tsk..

yo, ish ma berday

"surprise singing" at bubba with that hat. bleah.

late night coffee at cafe ad

yay, had a great birthday! albeit the surprise singing at bubba gump (yes, i had to wear the jester hat), and the upset tummy, things went pretty well. I went about doing what i usually do on saturdays, thinking she was just blogging, or shopping or chatting online. It was almost midnight when she showed me what she was doing earlier, and i saw this blog. She knows that with my neverending googling and reading about anything and everything (I've been raiding her library for the past few months), a lot of ideas, opinions, violent reactions and sabaw thoughts have gone through my mind. Some thoughts have passed, some have stayed. the others, I've probably forgotten or deliberately erased from my mind. I used to blog religiously-sometimes I would just write on my handy dandy notebook, and then my friends would try to decipher my handwriting. But when I started working and went back to school, I've stopped writing, even reading. My literature has been reduced to online articles and handouts for school and my writing to long text messages about school, traffic, politics, and yes, i send weather updates i get from 'kuya kim' in his morning show. I have an existing blog, but its been outdated for the longest time so this little site is perfect (I hate customizing sites, setting this up, so now, all i have to do is type).

October 7. I'm 23 n0w. Well, not until 5:38 pm, that is. A lot has happened since my last birthday. Some of them I hardly remember. Most of them, I've been wanting to post, but never had the time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about this. Maybe a year from now i can read back into the past year and laugh at my posts. For now, I'm signing off to get some sleep (a deprivation of late). But before this, I'm thanking Empress Eroica for this site. I promise i'll be posting stuff here. Big thank yous too for my friends, who deal with my "sabawness" everyday, for not getting sick of me (especially to sweetie wobi for the extra patience). See ya around.

I Was Hoping I'd Give You The Moon...

OCTOBER 7, 2007

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ECCA!!!
