Who Is Ecca?

A certified Librat... a delightful treat... like a cup of coffee on a rainy early morning... a rush... a fix to the very late evening woes... Insomnia is her middle name... that's ECCA... by the way, she has this uncanny obsession for the Moon. Coffee+Moon... Why not?

watching my favorite book

Neil Gaiman is my favorite author. Some friends of mine introduced me to his work one night we were on tour for a play we were doing. They had me read "Snow, Glass, Apples" from Smoke and Mirrors, and I got hooked. To this day, I still blame them for my addiction to Neil Gaiman literature. (curse you, yanny and rhem, we shouldve just focused on the beer!). Of course, years from now, friends of mine have helped me with my Gaiman addiction. Friend and superdirector Avid gave me a signed copy of Mr. Punch for my birthday (i had work the day Gaiman was here and i wasnt able to see him), and Empress showed me death and morpheus, and now im in love.

Death and Dreams aside, Stardust is my favorite Gaiman novel. I've always thought of it as magical, innocent, funny; a true journey for one who is in search for his heart's desire. Naturally, when the film came out, I made sure I would watch it as soon as i can. It is hard to watch your favorite book on film. Even though Gaiman produced it and had control over the screenplay (i think), I couldnt help but compare. Certain things were omitted, probably on purpose. Certain circumstances and characters were changed so it is very entertaining, and unpredictable, even for one who has read the book. Overall, i loved the film. the cast could not have been better. The special effects could have been better. The treatment of the film was sort of harry potter-ish, but it worked its magic. Robert de Nero's character is something to watch out for. All in all, i would recommend people to watch it. But, dont expect a lord-of-the-rings-grandeur. Remember, Its harry-potterish.

something to think about: Why do you think the term "heart's desire", was not mentioned in the film?

Birthday post

I still have a birthday hangover. Maybe because the party is a week after my actual birthday, or maybe because I get away with everything on my birthday. Whatever the case is, here are some pics of my birthday, from 12mn to 12mn of october 7th. ( guys, i love you lots :P)

the gang (12 midnight onwards)

weird things you read in some places

I love reading. But please, my preferred literature does not include phrases you read in restroom cubicles, or bus seats, or in tables in school. Then again, when you're doing number 1 in a public place, and you're facing the door of the cubicle, you read all the weird things crazed girls do (i wouldn't know what's written in boy's bathrooms, silly!). I'm used to reading "jenna loves brad", or "mylene loves marie" (I went to an all-girls college) types of vandals. I've also seen, call me (number is written), or "(name) is such a s*#%!". Haven't seen "Inday Loves Dodong", but I'm expecting to see it soon, with all the popularity Inday has been gaining in the text world. But after more than 10 years of curiously reading doors of cubicles, tables and other places, I think I can say I have seen the weirdest (so far). I read it in an exclusive college in Manila where I am currently enrolled in. It said:

"What is Sex for you?"

then someone else wrote:

"It's the cheese in my spaghetti."

SERIOUSLY.

Tsk tsk tsk..

yo, ish ma berday

"surprise singing" at bubba with that hat. bleah.

late night coffee at cafe ad

yay, had a great birthday! albeit the surprise singing at bubba gump (yes, i had to wear the jester hat), and the upset tummy, things went pretty well. Enzo did not beat me up, and that was a great gift he gave me. I spent my birthday exactly how i wanted it: simple, just like any other day. (the drinking and non-stop singing will be on Libra Night (refer to future posts for this)). Right now, I'm terribly exhausted, so sleep, i will do. Post, I shall tomorrow. blogging. weeee!!!!

1007

October 6, Empress spent the whole afternoon in front of the computer, while i was, at first hanging out, then ate, then went online, ate again, took a bath, got a haircut, and got back. she was still in front of the computer (total eclipse of the heart was the song of the hour). I went about doing what i usually do on saturdays, thinking she was just blogging, or shopping or chatting online. It was almost midnight when she showed me what she was doing earlier, and i saw this blog. She knows that with my neverending googling and reading about anything and everything (I've been raiding her library for the past few months), a lot of ideas, opinions, violent reactions and sabaw thoughts have gone through my mind. Some thoughts have passed, some have stayed. the others, I've probably forgotten or deliberately erased from my mind. I used to blog religiously-sometimes I would just write on my handy dandy notebook, and then my friends would try to decipher my handwriting. But when I started working and went back to school, I've stopped writing, even reading. My literature has been reduced to online articles and handouts for school and my writing to long text messages about school, traffic, politics, and yes, i send weather updates i get from 'kuya kim' in his morning show. I have an existing blog, but its been outdated for the longest time so this little site is perfect (I hate customizing sites, setting this up, so now, all i have to do is type).

October 7. I'm 23 n0w. Well, not until 5:38 pm, that is. A lot has happened since my last birthday. Some of them I hardly remember. Most of them, I've been wanting to post, but never had the time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about this. Maybe a year from now i can read back into the past year and laugh at my posts. For now, I'm signing off to get some sleep (a deprivation of late). But before this, I'm thanking Empress Eroica for this site. I promise i'll be posting stuff here. Big thank yous too for my friends, who deal with my "sabawness" everyday, for not getting sick of me (especially to sweetie wobi for the extra patience). See ya around.
